A Garden Journey Through Sussex

With Sharon Santoni

Overview

This journey has been designed as a retreat, a quieter, more intentional way to experience Provence at the beginning of spring. Led by Sharon Santoni, the week is centred around the idea of slowing down and reconnecting with a more natural rhythm of living.

A lush green provincial garden with a stone pond, floating water lilies, and decorative cherub statues.
Garden courtyard in Provence, France featuring a central stone pond and fountain.
Bunches of Provençal lavender tied with gold and maroon ribbons at a Provençal market table.
Narrow alley between ancient stone homes in Provence, France.
A provincial chapel nestled between hills and an olive grove.

We will be staying together in a Provençal bastide. More than just a place to stay, it becomes our home for the week, a space to gather, unwind, and fully immerse ourselves in the Provençal way of life.

Each day follows a gentle structure. Mornings are dedicated to exploration: visiting villages, local markets, private homes, and discovering the region at its most authentic. Afternoons are spent back at the bastide, where the pace naturally slows.

Here, a series of curated experiences will take place, from cooking and photography to creative workshops and moments spent with local artists and artisans.

Highlights

Provence is a region in the South of France where daily life revolves around local markets, seasonal produce, and a slower, more intentional way of living.

In early spring, the region feels even more special. The crowds haven’t yet arrived, and everything begins to come back to life. It’s a quieter, more intimate version of Provence.

The landscapes, the villages, the food, and the people all contribute to this sense of ease. Nothing feels forced. You take your time, you notice more, and gradually, you settle into a slower pace without even thinking about it.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING

WHERE YOU’LL STAY

La Bastide du mourre

We are excited to be hosting our guests at the Bastide du Mourre. The 17th Century property was entirely refurbished and opened in the spring of 2023, one of the latest jewels in the Domaines de Fontenille crown. Each guest will enjoy their own comfortable room and ensuite bathroom.

The property is extensive, with an uninterrupted view over the countryside and the hills beyond. The grounds include a pool, tennis court and wonderful wooden cabins, where you can book a massage with a view onto oak trees through large bay windows.
