Domaine de Pimard

Discover Domaine de Primard, a haven of elegance and nature. Spread across 30 hectares of enchanting gardens and tranquil waterways, this former retreat of French actress Catherine Deneuve seamlessly blends history, serenity, and luxury.

The Story

Domaine de Primard is a stunning estate that was once the cherished property of the renowned French actress Catherine Deneuve. Spanning over 30 hectares, this elegant domain is a quintessential example of 18th-century French classicism. The noble house, surrounded by old agricultural buildings, orchards, a farm, and a vegetable garden, embodies the charm of the Ancien Régime. With meadows, gardens, and woodlands all around, the estate offers a picturesque landscape where the omnipresence of water adds a unique allure. From the moat reflecting the house to the pond and stream that weave through the gardens, the shimmering waters create a magical ambiance throughout Primard.

The Neighborhood

Domaine de Primard is situated in the commune of Guainville, between Évreux and Dreux in the Centre Val de Loire region. Just an hour from Paris by direct train from Saint-Lazare, the estate feels delightfully secluded, yet it’s close to notable landmarks like the Château d’Anet and Giverny. The tranquil setting and lush surroundings provide a perfect retreat from city life.

The Rooms

The hotel boasts 40 light-filled rooms and suites, spread across several charming buildings including the Maison du Lac, Maison de l’Eure, Maison du Verger, and the Grange. Each room is designed with a king-size or super king-size bed and offers stunning views of the park. Some rooms even come with private gardens, ensuring a luxurious and peaceful stay. Signature suites in the château and other uniquely styled rooms blend modern comfort with historical charm.

Food and Drinks

Primard’s culinary offerings celebrate the rich flavors of the region. The estate features a Michelin-starred restaurant, Les Chemins, where Chef Romain Meder creates plant-focused dishes inspired by the gardens and local produce. Martin, the bistro, offers seasonal gourmet recipes for casual dining, with a lovely terrace for al fresco meals. The intimate La Table d’Hôtes provides a unique dining experience in the old kitchen of Maison sur l’Eure, complete with a period fireplace.

Details we loved

We love the enchanting potager and the meticulous work of Gérard, the gardener who originally tended the grounds for Catherine Deneuve. The presence of freely roaming animals adds a charming touch to the estate, enhancing its serene and natural ambiance. Additionally, the decks near the river offer the perfect spots to unwind and soak in the tranquility of the surroundings.
