One thing we’ve realised over the years is that you don’t need to spend a night in a beautiful hotel to enjoy it.

Some of our favourite mornings in Paris have simply started with breakfast.

It’s something we often recommend to friends visiting the city. Instead of rushing from one museum to the next, book breakfast at one of Paris’ great hotels. Take your time, order another coffee, watch the city slowly wake up and enjoy a few hours in places you might never otherwise step inside.

Each hotel has its own atmosphere. Some feel wonderfully grand, others are quietly elegant, and a few have become little rituals for us whenever we’re in Paris. Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply treating yourself before a day of exploring, these are the hotel breakfasts we think are absolutely worth experiencing.

Ritz Paris

There are very few places as iconic as the Ritz Paris, and breakfast here feels every bit as special as you imagine. Served in the elegant Bar Vendôme or beneath the glass roof overlooking the hotel’s beautiful garden, it’s an experience that invites you to slow down and savour the moment.

The menu celebrates classic French breakfast traditions with beautifully flaky viennoiseries, fresh breads, seasonal fruit, eggs cooked to order and exceptional coffee. Whether you choose a simple Parisian breakfast or one of the more generous menus, every detail reflects the refinement for which the Ritz has been known for over a century.

Sometimes it’s worth arriving a little earlier than planned, simply to enjoy another coffee in one of the most beautiful hotels in Paris.

Hôtel Rochechouart

If you’re looking for something more relaxed but equally delicious, Hôtel Rochechouart is one of our favourite addresses.

Breakfast here is refreshingly simple and focuses on quality rather than excess. The buffet features outstanding pastries from Maison Landemaine, fresh seasonal fruit, French cheeses, charcuterie and homemade dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients.

It has that effortless Parisian feel that makes you want to linger just a little longer before heading out to explore Montmartre.

Four Seasons Hotel George V

For many, breakfast at the George V is one of the finest in Paris.

Served beneath magnificent floral displays, the experience combines impeccable service with exceptional French craftsmanship. Freshly baked pastries by Guillaume Cabrol, exquisite desserts by pastry chef Michael Bartocetti and beautifully prepared savoury dishes make this far more than a hotel buffet.

It’s elegant without ever feeling intimidating and remains one of the city’s great breakfast experiences.

La Fantaisie

Tucked away in the 9th arrondissement, La Fantaisie has quickly become one of our favourite newer hotel addresses in Paris.

Breakfast is served in a bright, garden-inspired setting that perfectly reflects the hotel’s playful character. Expect beautifully baked pastries, seasonal fruit, homemade granola, fresh juices and carefully prepared hot dishes, all made using high-quality French ingredients.

It’s relaxed, elegant and feels a little less formal than many palace hotels, making it a lovely choice for a slower Parisian morning.

Le Meurice

Breakfast at Le Meurice has become something of a pilgrimage for pastry lovers, thanks to the creations of Cédric Grolet.

Served in one of Paris’ most magnificent dining rooms, surrounded by crystal chandeliers, gilded mirrors and historic frescoes, breakfast here feels wonderfully theatrical.

Alongside Grolet’s famous pastries, you’ll find homemade granola, fresh breads, seasonal fruit, eggs cooked to order and impeccable service that makes the whole experience feel wonderfully indulgent.

Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay

Technically not in Paris, but close enough for a memorable morning.

Less than an hour from the city, the Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay has become one of the most sought-after weekend escapes in the region. Its spectacular brunch is served inside the former monks’ refectory, where soaring vaulted ceilings and hundreds of suspended candles create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else.

The buffet is as impressive as the setting, celebrating generous seasonal dishes, beautiful pastries and traditional French breakfast favourites. If you’re looking for a countryside escape without travelling too far from Paris, this is one we always recommend.
